Only PENTASA delivers 4 grams of 5-ASA
throughout the small and large intestine

Moisture-activated PENTASA delivers independent of pH2

  • This allows it to begin releasing 5-ASA in the duodenum3
  • Intestinal pH may vary with the presence of food2

Delivery systems vary among 5-ASAs

  • pH-dependent, delayed-release formulation delivers 5-ASA only to the distal ileum, colon, and rectum.5
  • The azo bond formulation delivers 5-ASA to the colon following bacterial cleavage of the azo bond.6,7
